Áras Éanna International Artist in residence programme – AIR on the edge

Áras Éanna are delighted to welcome you here for your Residency on beautiful Inis Óirr. The island is the perfect retreat for artists of all disciplines offering amazing walks along winding roads and along
the untouched shoreline of the mighty Atlantic ocean. The Island has a shop, post office, Bicycle hire, Craft shops, hotels, pubs and Guesthouses. There are often lively music sessions at the pubs and
Áras Éanna hosts an Arts programme that includes Concerts, Theatre, Comedy, Exhibitions, Classes, Festivals and Workshops. Although the island is busy with tourists during the Summer months, Winter and Spring provides the artist with a quieter environment that gives greater opportunity to meet the islanders and absorb the inspiration of a special island place in the Atlantic on Europe’s edge.
We hope that the Island’s landscape, its people and the Artists residence at Áras Éanna will inspire your creative process. We hope you have a productive, enjoyable and memorable stay with us.
The Artist’s House
The Artist’s House has 4 large bedrooms with sea views and is perfect for two visiting international artist residencies. The large kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, kettle, coffee plunger, toaster, pots, pans, cutlery, glasses and delph. The dining
room has a large dining table with 6 chairs. The large sitting room has two large leather couches and a coffee table. The utility room has a washing machine and a dryer and a clothes horse for drying clothes. There is a washing line in the yard also. Bedlinen and towels are provided. A fire blanket is also provided. The heating system is oil fired and the timer and boiler are located in the cupboard in the utility room. There is a front garden and a small back and side garden. It is located within a 20 minute walk from Áras Éanna Arts Centre.
The Studio Space
You will have access to two multi-use studio spaces with Belfast sinks and lovely views, a 75 seat theatre, two galleries, a café and various rooms and spaces for workshops and classes. Áras Éanna will assist you in liaising with the community as needed. Áras Éanna does not have a kiln or a printing press. Neither the studio or the house is wheelchair accessible.
